Tips for Taking the Perfect Selfie

If you're 40-something and you're like me, talking a selfie that you feel good about is almost impossible.  These 5 tips will get you on your way to selfie stardom!

1) Experiment with Different Angles

Holding the camera below your face will only accentuate your chin and nose (not always the most flattering). Try holding the camera slightly above eye level for a shot that flatters your features. Remember to hold the camera as far away as possible too.

2)  Try Tilting Your Head

We all have a "best side." Try tilting your head in different directions to find the angle that best highlights your cheekbones and accentuates your eyes.

3)Use the Rule of 1/3's

Photographers all know to align your subject in the left 1/3 or right 1/3 of the picture. When we take selfies we tend to scrap that rule and try to center ourselves.  Your picture will be more interesting if you can position yourself slightly to one side.

4) Stick Your Neck Out

It may seem awkward, but nobody wants a double chin in their selfie. Try extending your neck out slightly. The effect will be to elongate your neck and accentuate your jawline.

5) If All Else Fails, Let Your Feet Do the Talking

Still not comfortable? You can always take a shot of your feet with an interesting view! It's a great way to get the point across in your post without your face being front-and-center.

Closet Ideas to Wow you Into Spring Cleaning!

Finishing Touches

Spring is the perfect time to spruce-up your tired and unorganized closet. When you consider how much time we spend getting ourselves ready every morning, our closet should be a welcoming and calming boudoir where we can relax and rejuvenate. Try adding a chandelier for a chic look. White paint, glass and mirrored surfaces will always help a space appear larger.

Built-In Storage

Built-in storage, such as thoughtfully designed shelving, cubby spaces and even drawers offer storage solutions for all those hard-to-fit-pieces of your wardrobe. Design your own plan based on your unique needs. My passion for purses demands multiple shelf-style storage options!

Seating Space

Create a seating area in your closet to refine your space, and also to aid in comfortably putting on shoes and boots. Who knows, you might decide to relax and unwind with a glass of wine at the end of the day with a space this posh!

For Him

Every guy deserves his own man cave, and his closet can be perfectly transformed with dark woods and paneling. Modern style and sleek designs will make getting dressed a guilty pleasure. Remember to pay attention to unique organizational needs for male-only items such as ties, cuff links, even briefcases.
